Sporting Events

Stadium Southland is the largest multi-purpose, multi-functional indoor sporting stadium in New Zealand and is home to the Southern Sting netball team and New Zealand’s only Indoor International Cycling Velodrome.

Every year we play host to a variety of local, national and international sporting events and our versatility means we are able to accommodate virtually any indoor sporting event - aerobics, badminton, martial arts, gymnastics, kickboxing, table tennis and boxing events have all been staged here.

3 timber sprung courts

4 rebound ace courts (as used at the Australian Tennis Open in Melbourne)

New Zealand’s only Indoor International Cycling Velodrome

Four single squash courts, which can be converted to three doubles courts.

Challenging elite climbing wall for climbers of all abilities

A variety of corporate viewing lounges holding from 20 - 60 people

Media facilities, courtside television camera and commentary area

Ability for a in-the-round setup for boxing and circus events

International standard scoreboards

Team changing rooms: six team changing rooms in the venue complete with showers, toilets, mirrors, power plugs and plenty of space for changing and sports gear.
