 FINAL COUNTDOWN, GAME ON 2012

The Stadium Southland team is excited to announce the official countdown is on for 2012!

We are only months away from opening the World Class, multi purpose venue, capable of conducting a wide range of event modes from large scale concerts to sporting events and exhibitions. Latest update

Much more than just a venue, Stadium Southland is the energetic heart of our Southern community.

Incorporating the world-class Velodrome, the stadium complex has hosted a plethora of national and international events from all genres – sporting, recreational, cultural, arts, corporate and even equestrian.

For our staff, success isn’t only reflected on the scoreboard. Nothing fazes our team of dedicated professionals, who get as much satisfaction from staging a fantastic event as the client themselves....Contact Us

In September, 2010, Mother Nature dealt a cruel blow to the southern region, unleashing the heaviest snowfall seen in decades. Stadium Southland’s roof was a casualty of the wintery blast, suffering extensive damage to its main arena and seven community courts.

But it takes more than the wrath of Mother Nature to squash our southern spirit. Just days after the collapse, we were back in event mode staging a national show – albeit in our adjacent Velodrome.

Adopting the “from adversity stems opportunity” approach, our reduced capacity has certainly not affected our enthusiasm.

The Velodrome has been transformed into a unique multi-purpose venue to ensure the needs of our community – and those venturing to the Deep South to stage their events – continue to be met to the high standards we’ve earned a global reputation for.

We even imported a wooden court from Singapore so the Southern Steel can continue to play its international netball games on home turf and the Southland Sharks can once again challenge in the NBL

It’s testament to our commitment to the Game on 2012 project to rebuild Stadium Southland. After all, every community needs a heart to ensure it stays alive.
