About the Kathleen Sutton Memorial Scholarship
Kathleen Sutton was a passionate and proud supporter of the arts here in Southland. She was dedicated to music, teaching singing well into her 80s. Kath conducted massed choirs in school music festivals, church choirs, and the Southland Youth Choir, she also directed music in Scout gang shows. A past president of the Southand Womens Club, Kath trained the choir of singers from city churches for the Praise Be TV series and featured in a host of charity and fundraising events. Kaths influence on artists of all ages was significant and a true testament to her passion for the industry.
Kathleen's family have generously set up a scholarship in her honour, to assist an artist(s) in furthering their musical and or performance pursuits.
The value of up to $2,000.00 is to be awarded each year, to one or more recipients across all ages. This could be put towards a music development programme, travel to a competition or performance, music lessons/fees or education.
The scholarship winner(s) will be invited to perform an item at the ILT Christmas Variety Show infront of 2,500 people, showcasing their talent and honouring Kathleens memory.
